Passports
To travel to the Jamboree you will need a valid passport with an expiry date later than 20
February 2020 as the USA requires entrants to have a passport with at least 6 months’ validity
after the intended period of travel.

If you do not already have a passport, you will need to apply for one from https://www.passports.govt.nz 

We require that all Contingent members have their passport by 31st March 2019, and we would recommend starting your application as soon as possible.early Pas passports can take some time to issue, especially for youth in a split family or foster care situation.

If you are planning to travel to the Jamboree on a passport other than a New Zealand passport, or if you are not a New Zealand citizen, please contact us immediately with the details.

If you already have a passport that will expire before 20 February 2020, please arrange to
renew your passport. Note that the visa/travel authorisations ESTA (see below for
more information) are linked to your passport, so if you apply for those on your existing passport and then get a new passport afterwards, the ESTA will no longer be valid. You must renew your passport before applying for the ESTA.

Visa and Travel Authorisations
The USA requires all travellers entering their countries to have a valid visa or travel authorisation. All participants attending the Jamboree will need to complete an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) application for the USA. The Contingent requires that you have your ESTA and, if applicable, by 31 March 2019.

These applications can only be done online, and only once you have your passport. If you are travelling on a passport other than a New Zealand passport, you may not be eligible for the ESTA or ETA visa waiver systems.

Once you have your passport, please apply for your ESTA which is then valid for 2 years here: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov. The cost for the ESTA is US$14 Once you have been approved for the ESTA, please provide the reference number via email to the team at worldjamboree@scouts.nz
